Hi, I’m Angel.

I photograph people, places and the little things happening somewhere in between.

Angel, founder and photographer of Sunday, Maybe.
Angel, behind the camera

I didn’t start Sunday, Maybe because I always believed in perfect love stories.

If anything, it came from learning that life rarely happens as neatly as we imagine it will.

I moved from China to the UK for university, and somewhere between new cities, unfamiliar people, friendships, travelling, leaving and coming back, I became much more careful about the things — and people — I let matter to me.

Then something unexpected happened.

A woman looking over the coastline in hazy evening light

An ordinary night.
Important later.

I met someone I wasn’t looking for, in a way I hadn’t planned.

Months before we properly knew each other, we had unknowingly spent New Year’s Eve in the same building, only metres apart.

I was downstairs with friends, eating grapes under a table because someone told me it might bring the right person into my life.

He was working somewhere nearby.

We wouldn’t properly meet until months later.

Maybe the grapes worked.
Maybe they didn’t.

A question without a useful answer

That’s kind of the point.

Because some of the most important moments in our lives don’t announce themselves as important.

Sometimes it’s a room you’ve been in a hundred times that suddenly feels different because of who is sitting beside you.

A hand reaching for yours.

Someone fixing your hair without thinking.

A stupid joke.

The way sunlight fell across a table.

A place you didn’t mean to go.

A person you didn’t expect to care about.

And sometimes you only realise much later that you would have liked to keep that exact version of your life somewhere.

That is what photography became to me.

Not a way of making life look perfect.

A way of noticing it while it is happening.

We don’t photograph what love is supposed to look like.
We photograph what it felt like to be there.

I still like the idea of forever.

I’m just less interested in pretending that we always know what forever looks like.

Maybe some people stay.

Maybe some people change us.

Maybe some ordinary Sunday becomes one of the days we remember for the rest of our lives.

Sunday, Maybe is for all of it.

The weddings, the lovers, the friends, the places, and the quiet bits in between.

The moments you know you’ll want to remember —

and the ones you don’t know you’ll miss yet.

For days worth noticing.

For the moments
you don’t know
you’ll miss yet.

room for real life

The photograph is often happening beside the one everyone expects.

I’m much more interested in what happens between the photographs people expect.

The glance before the kiss.
Someone fixing someone else’s clothes.
Friends laughing when they’re supposed to be behaving.
The wind ruining the plan.
The five minutes nobody thought would matter.

I’ll give direction when it helps.

Then I’ll leave enough room for real life to happen.

A name with enough room in it.

Why Sunday?

Because Sunday feels like having enough time to notice your life.

Why Maybe?

Because we don’t always know which moments will matter yet.

For days worth noticing.

Somewhere nice, maybe.
